Oldham County Police are investigating a fatal ATV accident that occurred at the 4600 block of Highway 524 West on July 11, 2004 at approximately 1:40 AM.  

Upon further investigation it was determined that the victim, Leonard Straughn, a 45 year old white male, was operating his ATV in the woods near his residence on Tingle Lane  with a female friend when the ATV became stuck in a muddy area of the woods.  Straughn requested his friend to get off the ATV while he attempted to get it out of the mud and it began to slide down a hill and over turned, pinning Mr. Straughn beneath.  Straughn was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Oldham County Coroners office.

The Westport Fire Department, North Oldham Fire Department, LaGrange Fire Department, Oldham County EMS, Louisville Metropolitan Air Unit and the Oldham County Police Department responded to the scene.
