Cooperative efforts between police agencies paid dividends for the beleaguered citizens of an Oldham County community today as the Oldham County Police announced they are charging two individuals with multiple crimes. 

In the past several months, the community of Westport, Kentucky, located on the Ohio River in northern Oldham County, has been the target of a series of residential burglaries, thefts and one armed robbery.  Working in close coordination with the Floyd County Indiana County Prosecutor’s Office and the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (AFT) agency, two suspects will be charged in connection with those crimes.  The two individuals are identified as Cynthia K. Long, age 37, from Jeffersontown, Kentucky, and Gerald D. Weddle, age 40, who listed numerous residential addresses.

Long and Weddle are suspects in multiple burglaries and robberies throughout the Louisville Metro area and in a total of 20 different counties throughout Kentucky and Indiana.

This joint investigation has resulted in numerous fire arms recovery and ten’s of thousands of dollars in recovered stolen property.  The value of stolen property from Oldham County reports alone is over 100,000 dollars.

Evidence will be presented to an Oldham County Grand Jury for indictments in the near future.  At this time both of the above suspects are being housed at Louisville Corrections pending other related charges.
