                              Press  Release

Oldham County Police have partnered with Project ChildSafe to provide the residents of Oldham County with free gunlocks.  The gunlocks are available during business hours at the Oldham County Police Station located at 1855 North Highway 393.  Oldham County Police currently have 300 locks available and they are free to the public.  Oldham County Police would like to encourage anyone who has firearms, especially those with small children, and who do not have gun locks, to take this opportunity to make their firearms and their home safe.

The purpose of the program is to promote safe firearms handling and secure storage practices among all firearms owners.  Project ChildSafe, a program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation will distribute millions of firearm safety kits throughout the county over the next year.  The program is funded by a U.S. Department of Justice grant, with additional funding provided by the firearms industry.

For additional information regarding this program, please contact Officer Matt Cornell at (502) 222-1300.
