Chief Kevin Collett Recognized

The Oldham County Police Department (OCPD) has recognized LaGrange Police Chief Kevin Collett upon his graduation from the 217th Session of the FBI National Academy.  Chief Collett, a former officer with the OCPD, completed a ten-week intensive management program at Quantico, Virginia, on June 11, 2004.  The training Chief Collett received at the National Academy will further enhance the considerable skills he brought to the LaGrange Department when hired by Mayor Elsie Carter in January of 2003.

Chief Collett became the second active duty officer in all of Oldham County law enforcement to graduate from the FBI National Academy, joining Lieutenant Tim Wakefield, the current Operations Commander for the OCPD, who graduated with the 196th Session on March 26, 1999.  Former OCPD officer Bob Bianco was the only other Oldham County law enforcement member to have attended the FBI National Academy, having graduated with the 180th Session on March 24, 1995.  Bianco left the OCPD in August of 1996, to become a Special Agent with the FBI and is currently serving with the Bureau in its Miami Division.

Pictured are OCPD Chief Michael Griffin, a retired FBI Agent, OCPD Lieutenant Tim Wakefield, Chief Collett and OCPD Lieutenant Billy Way.  The collector’s knife was made by the world renowned knife maker and LaGrange resident, Gil Hibben.
