OLDHAM COUNTY POLICE PRESS RELEASE

 

LaGrange Police Officer Received Minor Injury in Traffic Collision

 

On August 16, 2009 at approximately 1:50 am a vehicle operated by Matthew T. Hobbs, struck the rear of a LaGrange Police Car on Interstate 71 South Bound approximately two miles south of LaGrange, near mile marker 20.  Officer Jeremy Ferguson with the LaGrange Police Department was assisting with traffic control due to a previous collision, at the request of the Oldham County Police Department.   Officer Ferguson was standing near the rear of his patrol vehicle when his vehicle was struck.  Officer Ferguson received a minor injury from the collision and was treated and released from Baptist Hospital North East. 

Mr. Hobbs is a 18 year old male from Louisville, Kentucky.  Mr. Hobbs was not wearing a seat belt and was injured in the collision.  Mr. Hobbs was transported to University of Louisville Hospital by ambulance with no apparent life threatening injuries.   Mr. Hobbs was charged with:  Failure to Yield the Right of Way to an Emergency Vehicle and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt.  Alcohol was a possible factor and the collision remains under investigation.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage in the collision.
