POLICE MEMORIAL SERVICE

The Congress and President of the United States have designated May 15, 2004, as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, and week in which May 15 falls as National Police week.

Oldham County Judge/Executive Judge Mary Ellen Kinser has called upon citizens of Oldham County and upon patriotic and educational organizations to observe the week May 9th - 15th, 2004, as Police Week with appropriate ceremonies and observances in which all of our people may join in commemorating law enforcement officers past and present, who, by their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities, have rendered a dedicated service to their communities and, in so doing, have established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for preserving the rights and security of all citizens

On Sunday, May 16, 2004 at 7:00 PM, a ceremony commemorating fallen officers will be presented at the Crestwood United Methodist Church located at 7214 Kavanaugh Road, Crestwood, Kentucky.  This ceremony is the fourth for Oldham County and is a cooperative effort of the Oldham County Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Oldham County Sheriff Office, LaGrange Police Department and the Pewee Valley Police Department.  The guest speaker is Robert Douglas who is the Executive Director of the National P.O.L.I.C.E Suicide Foundation, Inc. out of Pasadena, Maryland. 

Citizens of our community are welcomed to join the event in commemorating the event.
